What are lessons like in this subject?
Psychology is the academic and scientific study of the brain,听mind听and behaviour.听听The role of biology, upbringing and culture on behaviour will be explored, and you will gain a greater understanding of why people act the way they do.听听听听
Whilst studying psychology, students may have the opportunity to experience talks from people who work in the field of psychology or to attend educational conferences with guest speakers.鈥� There will also be opportunities for students to enhance their learning experience by going on听an a听variety of trips, potentially including an overseas psychology trip.听听
Typical lessons include a range of activities where students work independently and collaboratively with others completing mini whiteboard tasks, exam听questions听and quizzes for example.听听All lessons involve students being active participants in their learning by taking part in class discussions and sharing thoughts and opinions about topics being studied.听听
What will I study?
- Paper 1 Exam - Memory, attachment in children, social influence (conformity and obedience), clinical听psychology听and mental health听听听
- Paper 2 Exam - Approaches in Psychology (different perspectives), biological psychology, research methods used in Psychology听听
- Paper 3 Exam 鈥� Schizophrenia, relationships, aggression,听issues听and philosophical debates in psychology听
Studying Psychology has massively opened my eyes to the world around me. It hasn't just taught me about the brain, it has broadened my understanding of why people behave the way they do. I honestly look forward to every lesson as they are always engaging and varied.
